Watch :: Midnight Juggernauts ‘Ballad of a War Machine’

March 6th 2013

I think it is safe to say that Melbourne trio Midnight Juggernauts are in the lead for the most obscure film clip of 2013 thus far with the release of their track ‘Ballad of a War Machine’.

If you’ve already seen the film clip, you probably felt like you had somehow delved into the depths of the YouTube archive and ended up with an aged and distorted recording of the intro to a 1980’s Russian news program, because, quite frankly, that is exactly what the first minute and a half is!

The track itself is the first release from Midnight Juggernauts’ forthcoming album, and it’s musically superb and catchy as shit. The film clip, however, along with the guys’ matching militaristic uniforms, surreal scenes set in the streets of Moscow and the very odd choice of props (that I won’t spoil before you watch) would likely fool the unknowing viewer into thinking this favoured Melbourne band were in fact an 80s Russian pop-group. You have to check this video out for yourself and have a well deserved giggle.
