Watch: Rainbow Chan live on Local Fidelity

June 12th 2013

Skinny-dipping with octopi, field recordings in Iceland and a hot-tub full of ice-cream. Rainbow Chan’s been busy, but she made time to swing by FBi…

Rainbow Chan lugged a massive keyboard into the studios this week to have a chat and give us a preview of new track ‘Fools Gold’ on Lee Tran Lam on Local Fidelity.

After winning FBi’s Northern Lights competition and heading off to Iceland in 2011, Rainbow has enjoyed growing success and exposure including attention from Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Taking a distinctly culinary approach to film clips, her video for ‘Sweet Tooth’ sees her immersed in icecream – an experience that trashed her clothes, the tub and left the distinctive smell of baby vom in the air. Not content to rest on these laurels, her upcoming clip for ‘Skinnydipping’ features a naked Chan draped in fish! No mention of how long that odour lasted…

In the interview, Rainbow talks about signing up during FBi’s last supporter drive, with an eye on one of the great prizes available daily. Despite losing out on a Bourke Street Bakery voucher to Flume (is there anything he didn’t win last year?!), Rainbow still gave us some warm fuzzies: “I would do anything for FBi, it’s just seriously the best!”
