News :: Husky sign to Sub Pop

February 17th 2012

Good people of the Flog, can we please get an AWW YEAH for AUSSIE MUSIC?!

Today, Melbourne band Husky became the very first Australian band to be signed by legendary US label Sub Pop. They’re the guys that put out that little band called Nirvana, if anyone remembers them…

The announcement comes only a few weeks after local Sydney lad Jonti became the inaugural Aussie to be signed to another US super label, Stones Throw Records. Here at the Flog we’d like to say a big ol’ caps-lock-fuelled CONGRATULATIONS to the boys – announcements like this restore the Aussie pride that we feel slip away with every Straya-Day southern-cross tattoo.

Having just finished off a national tour as part of the Laneway festival, Husky are now ducking off to Europe and the States for a few months. SXSW and Canadian Music Week are just a couple of pit-stops on their calendar of being too-damn-legendary.

But if you want to check ‘em out for yourself without the hefty airfare, they’ll be back around these parts soon enough for The Woods tour. Get yourself a ticket now before you FORGET and REGRET!

For good measure, here is the stunning animated video for the track they are touring – ‘The Woods‘. Directed by Brendan Cook and Darryn Rogers.
