Monika Ross chooses her top tracks for Mantra Collective

January 17th 2016

For the first party of 2016, Mantra Collective launches into the year with the incredible Monika Ross (Serialism/UK) on headline duties whilst occupying Sydney’s best basement venue on the 16th of January at the Civic Underground.

In an age of endless house sound-alikes, Monika Ross is an artist who constantly raises her head above the barrier. A radio host, producer and DJ, the Sydney born spinstress built her grounding in Sydney before immersing herself in London’s extremely well-nurtured house and techno scene.

Since then, Monika Ross has been continuing her impressive career with shows at world famous institutions including Fabric London, Watergate Berlin and playing passionately behind decks at underground parties across the globe.

Monika Ross’ top track picks

Suciu – “Gloria from Astoria”

The elegance and enigma catches me every time, absolutely heart-wrenching – listen to it at dusk.

Levat – “Rudum”

The swing and bassline of this piece gives a sense of composure yet riotousness that make it timeless.

Ion Ludwig – “Alpha Changes”

My favourite track from his UGold album, Ion is effortless at igniting good vibrations with this piece. I like it as a daytime track with its airy chords and powerful percussion – sunrise.

Ferro – “8 or 9”

In my opinion, you can’t really go wrong with anything Ferro. This straight up dancefloor banger works in most sets on a night and is always asked about. I love Karton as a label too, really good stuff coming from the Dutch at the moment.

Seuil – “Lost in The Soul Shower”

Seuil is one of my all-time favourite artists with years of strong, original releases. This track is an absolute pearl, and sounds like its title. A timeless piece that I still play all the time.
