City Calm Down curates a nostalgic set for Purple Sneakers

August 13th 2017

Melbourne’s City Calm Down have been expertly melding moody 80’s vibes with modern emo indie sensibilities for the last five years. Although they’ve stayed quiet since the release of their first album ‘In a Restless House’, Jack, Sam, Jeremy and Lee are resurfacing with release of their new single ‘Blood’.

In their mix for Purple Sneakers, City Calm Down showcase a few indie and electronic deep cuts with musical gems scoured from a diverse range of continents and eras. With selections from Spain, Germany and Japan, the four piece flaunt their varying tastes and love of old school sounds. Stream their nostalgia-inducing mix below.

Wild Ambitions – Yellow Magic Orchestra
Hay Que Correr – Chico Mann
Bad Timing – The Metronomes
Eisbear – Grauzone
Gong Bath – Slow Riffs
Ballo-Balla –  Roland Young
Pains – Silk Rhodes
