Independent Artist Of The Week: Georgia June

Influenced by the likes of fem rockers like Divinyls, Joan Jett and Blondie, indie pop rockers Georgia June write music that’s brutally honest, relatable and thought provoking.

Having gigged around Sydney since she was 12, June caught the attention of Billboard Magazine and scooped up a mentorship in New York. The band’s debut single ‘Cool’ is jam-packed with fiery vocals, catchy guitar riffs and snappy bass lines.

The track’s video clip depicts an everyday teenage girl dealing with her first relationship and the pressures of growing up in high school. Of the visuals, June had this to say:

“‘Cool’ is supposed to be a satire on the notion of being popular and fitting in to a particular social hierarchy. I’ve always been super nerdy so the video and song for this was just a play on that.”
