FBi Presents :: Seun Kuti & Egypt 80

Cartell Music is proud to present the return of Afrobeat luminary Seun Kuti with polyrhythmic groove pioneers Egypt 80, in Sydney this November.

Seun brings a rich lineage to the stage as the youngest son of Afrobeat founder, Fela Kuti. Unanimously hailed for continuing Fela’s musical legacy, Seun took control of his father’s 16-piece funk-fuelled orchestra, Egypt 80 at the age of 14 and has been laying down a potent version of indestructible rhythms ever since.

Kuti returns to our shores after his triumphant inaugural performances in Australia in 2009, headlining WOMADelaide and Sydney’s VIVID festival, where crowds were treated to the outfit’s electrifying live show.

Adding some serious musical firepower to the night will be Watussi, the well-traveled troupe of Latino-tinged roots rockers led by charismatic Columbian ex-pat, Oscar Jimenez. They’ll be bringing their blustering horns, party-fuelled rhythms and rocking roots bass-lines to add to Kuti’s nearly two decades of performing.

Get ready for a heady brew of splintery guitars, scorching rhythms and sheer energy in Sydney Saturday 10th November, Metro Theatre. Tickets from ticketek.com.au or 132 849.
