Folklore, History, Symbolism

David Bell (University of Otago) will explore the series’ running themes of folk narratives, the tragic tale of Minamoto no Yoshitsune and his follower Benkei, and the deeper sensitivities to the ephemerality of youth, beauty and love. This event is part of the ‘Uncovering Japanese Tattoo’ series, featuring an exhibition, demonstration and talks.
