When modern life is getting you down, the salve can only be found in the loving arms of your fellow tits. This month, The Bearded Tit is dispensing some MODERN MEDICINE in an exhibition filled with fictional instruments of pleasure, pain and redemption. Contemporary complaints of the heart, mind and body are placed on the metaphorical operating table, to be examined, dissected and rebuilt for a more resilient future.

Result Night Street Festival for Marriage Equality

The fight doesn’t end with the announcement, but we’re taking a moment to celebrate all we’ve accomplished together so far. This is for those who made phone calls, put up posters, and knocked on doors. For those who took part in mass post-ins, concerts, fundraisers and rallies. For everyone who voted yes.

Thursday 16th November

Tokyo Is Yours

After successful shows in Arles, France and Ballarat International Foto Biennale, the internationally acclaimed series Tokyo Is Yours will be shown in Sydney. Not simply an exhibition of photographic images, the installation also fleshes out narrative threads and layers running through the project in relation to the Great East Earthquake of 2011, Love, loss, desire and a tenuous relationship with nature. Inspired by Manga and film noir the work has been described as dangerous by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama.

Bling

Matthew Quick’s “Bling” looks at society’s desire for preciousness—and the commercial reality of how desirable products are created, marketed and ultimately coveted. Premium products—polished gold, copper, aluminium, Swarovski crystals have been used to infuse this collection with glamour and desire.

Punk Girls Book Launch

Punk Girls is a realistic representation of the punk movement in its many guises with a focus on femme. Fashion, music and politics collide in this landmark publication by one of Australia’s most acclaimed female photographers. The images are inspired by and reference the iconic women of punk history, as embodied and re-enacted by those who channel the punk movement in contemporary daily life.

We're All Going To Die Festival

Starting the conversation around death as means to shift our perspective on fear, a line-up of local and international artists led by Stefan Hunt will bring the ‘We’re All Going To Die Festival’ to life. Combining film, book, installation, visual art, music, performance, talks and immersive experiences, the festival is an amusement park for the soul. Set in COMMUNE’s large labyrinth warehouse, roam the festival – from death meditations to judgement baths to hidden dance experiences.
