PREMIERE: Boler Mani overcomes with mental health banger ‘Miss Anxiety’

January 23rd 2019

Melbourne artist Boler Mani invents the previously unheard-of genre of mental health banger with his new track ‘Miss Anxiety’, an incredibly relatable piece of self-therapy from the 17-year-old up-and-comer. It premiered on Arvos with Darren Lesaguis.

On the follow-up to his latest single ‘Dam I Got A Cold’, Mani dives deeper into the early-Childish Gambino and Jaden Smith influences he exhibited on that track, not just in his flow and the left-leaning, new wave hip hop production but in the everyday relatability of his lyrics and his occasionally tongue-in-cheek approach to the topic of mental wellbeing. Mani addresses the entire track to the spectre of his anxiety and eschewing the sort of sombre weight you would normally expect from a song about mental health in favour of something lighter in tone.

It also helps to just sing the hook in my head whenever I get a bit too nervous“, he says of the therapeutic nature of the track.

In the process, he unearths a new kind of banger – the mental health banger – cause sometimes it’s nice to know there are other people out there going through the same shit you are. There’s something to be said for that – and Boler Mani finds it on ‘Miss Anxiety’.

The track is just the latest in a string of name-building singles for the 17-year-old Melbournite, who is very quickly becoming one of the artists to watch in 2019. Check it out now below 👇
