“[Sonic Boom] took me to a record store in France then showed me these guys, then did some other eccentric things like sparking up a joint in the middle of the record shop.”

In this special edition of Marty Doyle’s Dusty Fingers, man-of-many-talents frontman Nicholas Allbrook drives (with some difficulty) into FBi to guest present the show.

A solo artist in his own right, you probably know Nick as the frontman for Pond, the drummer for Peter Bibby, a founding member of Mink Mussel Creek, Allbrook/Avery – or maybe that “real big band” he “helped out”, Tame Impala.

The tracks selected by Nick highlight the breadth of his musical influences, ranging from contemporary classical and disco artist Arthur Russell to Earl Sweatshirt and back to enigmatic characters like Skip Spence.

“[These days I’m] scratching my tummy, drawing, and making little kiddy books with Amber Fresh.”

They dive into Nicholas’ record collection for ninety minutes, which fly by in an engaging and edifying experience. To get the full track listing from the show, click here.
