Label hunting with Andrey Pushkarev (Russia): Mantra Collective

May 23rd 2016

Andrey-Pushkarev

Coming straight from Tokyo and Bali, Frequency‘s Mantra Collective are back in Sydney this week with another huge talent in tow: Andrey Pushkarev from Russia.

A member of Parisian label Circus Company, Pushkarev is an accomplished DJ who boosts the human aspect of the music he plays, giving each track breathing room and compiling subtle mixes that conjure up a definite mood. For Andrey, a mix is all about the architecture – building up the beats one on top of another until they make a solid structure.

This Saturday, Pushkarev will join Mantra Collective and some good local friends at their regular party haunt, the Civic Underground. To prepare, we’ve asked Pushkarev to lead us on a hunt through his top 5 favourite labels.

Plastic City

Most of the releases in my collection are from this label and therefore Plastic City is number one in the selection of this chart!

Phorma

Wonderful and modern sound of techno music from Sweden. Strong concept. Every release has a beautiful artwork.

Invisible Circles

Very cool and conceptual label from Berlin. With every release, it’s a new, nice story.

Central Processing Unit

Not so many labels releasing this kind of music these days as CPU. I have been collecting old school electro records for a long time and I’m glad this sound came back.

Cabinet Records

Pure classic of electronic music. Every release is a powerful dancefloor tool and a timeless anthem.
