Independent Artist Of The Week :: Ravin

May 4th 2015

Ravin

Sydney’s Ravin is a rapper with an intriguing story. The 18-year-old from Bankstown draws on his upbringing and Samoan heritage in his songwriting; resulting in lyricism and composition that is genuine and raw.

Filtering that through bold and colourful instrumentation, Ravin paints walls of rich textures with brass and percussive sections; elements that scope jazz and soul influences throughout the entirety of his debut EP, Soulfood.

A breath of fresh air, Ravin is changing the face of the Australian hip hop scene with this promising five-track EP. Collaborators on the record include  Wordlife‘s Adam Bozzatto on production duties, and Sydney audio/visual artist Ego for the accompanying clip to, ‘Life Don’t Shine’.

Bold, charismatic and endearing, grab a listen (and free digital download) of Ravin‘s debut EP, Soulfood, out now through Heaps Decent.

Tune into Up For It every Monday morning for your new Independent Artist Of The Week!
