Independent Artist of The Week: Marcus

September 5th 2016

Marcus Sam Kid Kong

Move along weed rap – breakfast rap is coming through.

Melbourne hip-hop artist Marcus released his first mixtape Pizza For Breakfast. Cereal At 3am. in June 2015. Since then, he’s founded Aussie collective and imprint Rawdivercity (Baro, Charlie Threads, Sol’Manic, Nasty Mars + more).

Conscientiously honing his craft for over a decade, Marcus has generated a wealth of local love from the likes of Illy, Spit Syndicate, Remi and Sensible J. With the release of his latest track ‘Toast’, Marcus will be touring later this year with a newly assembled five piece live band.

Released in July through Rawdivercity, ‘Toast’ is the brainchild of Marcus and Basquiat Jnr. It was written as an ode to Marcus and his collective, and represents a mere snippet of greater things to come.

Tune into Up For It every Monday morning to meet your new independent artist of the week!
