Independent Artist of the Week :: A.D.K.O.B.

August 31st 2015

Sydney’s A.D.K.O.B. construct their unique, driving brand of ‘post-post-rock’ from unexpected sources of inspiration.

What makes A.D.K.O.B. (A Different Kind Of Busy) stand out so much is multi-instrumentalist Mark Piccles’ unique process and range of inspirations. The core elements to his tracks are drawn from a range of sources, from a melody hummed at work on a mobile phone on ‘Lung Capacity’, to a deep study of classic hip-hop artists’ use of rhythm and song structure.

Their leading single is the furiously danceable ‘Glue’, a fantastic demonstration of Piccles’ skill as a composer, with each added element adding to the energy without ever feeling crowded.

If you like what you’re hearing, then you’re in luck – A.D.K.O.B. are launching their live tour across the Australian coast, with the first gig happening at Freda’s on October 8. In the meantime, you can check out ‘Glue’ and ‘Lung Capacity’ on their Soundcloud.
