The Falls Festival 2014 - Lorne - Photo by Yael Yaya Stempler

In three naturally beautiful locations across Australia, the Falls Music & Art Festival brought together thousands of punters to squeeze all the remaining juice out of 2014 – and hurl their hungover bodies into a new year. Byron Bay took the heat in northern NSW. Marion Bay braved the wild winds on the edge of the earth in Tasmania. And in the middle, Lorne: a magical place where the forest meets the sea; and the site where the Falls festival first began in the early ’90s.

Lorne kicked off with a vibe-setter performance by Client Liaison, followed by legendary old school duo Salt N Pepa – who made the first night one to remember. With the natural amphitheatre stage surrounded with trees and all of nature’s goodness, alongside sweet tunes from Milky Chance, La Roux, Sticky Fingers, Alt-J, Jamie xx and plenty more, it’s safe to say it was one wild fiesta.

A big announcement came from Cloud Control who broke the sad news about the departure of their bass player Jeremy Kelshaw, while honouring the crowed with one last set with him. Among the highlights were Cold War Kids shredding the stage while the sun set over the trees, and Spiderbait‘s Mark Maher AKA Kram counting down to the new year with a celebratory speech before 2015 was jump-started with an epic set from The Presets.
