No-one was quite sure what would be involved in Bon Iver’s ‘Cercle‘ – a new show premiering at Vivid LIVE almost five years to the day since the last Bon Iver album was released.
Set in-the-round in the Concert Hall at Sydney Opera House, long time fans of Justin Vernon were treated to a career-spanning set, including most of his debut album For Emma, Forever Ago and the Blood Bank EP, plus rare treats like his cover of Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me’ and ‘Roslyn’ (a collaboration with St. Vincent for the Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack).
Performing beneath a halo of long, hanging rope tassles, the show closed with all band members forming a huddle in the circle of the Cercle, facing each other for a final chorus.
