Kino #95 – Open-Screen Film Night

An open screen film night where you can submit your own short film. There are a few rules though… Films must be under 5 minutes, have Kino Sydney and screening number in credits, must be world premieres, must not be home videos, and must not be advertisements. A place to meet budding film makers, eat pizza and watch some great local films.

Debby Doesn’t Do It For Free

Debby Doesn’t Do It For Free is an art collective inspired by the 70s porn film Debby Does Dallas. The exhibition will feature works from sex worker artists in Sydney, Melbourne and Hobart through a range of mediums from digital video, oils, sensory soundscapes and installation, to an “Ask a Hooker a Question” interactive booth.

Society of Tastemakers & Elegant People – ‘The Sydney Edition’

STEP events consist of a 40-minute moderated panel of expert guests followed by a live showcase performance. The first ever Sydney STEP panel ‘The Sydney Edition’ will feature Stephen Goodhew (FBI), Isabella Manfredi (The Preatures), Vic Edirisinghe (Astral People & Plastic World), Jimmy Sing (GoodGod), Julia Wilson (Rice Is Nice) and Jacob Stone (Bluejuice) as moderator. Following the discussion will be a special live performance by Marcus Whale (Collarbones & Black Vanilla) and a DJ set from Adi Toohey.

‘Aqui, Ahora’ – Celeste Byers & Aaron Glasson

Mythology

The Rydges hotel will be transformed into an immersive art space exploring themes of ancient and contemporary Mythology. Set upon the rooftop. The event will be a labyrinth of sensory experiences, interactive art pieces and contemporary takes on stories that have outlasted time. Tantalizing cocktails and creatively themed canapés from Rydges Head Chef Rick Fowden will be served throughout the evening.
