Black Rhymes

A night of poetry and power with local and visiting award-winning Aboriginal poets Uncle Ken Canning (Burraga Gutya), Samuel Wagan Watson, Ellen Van Neerven, Lorna Munro, and Elizabeth Jarrett. There will be an open mic for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander poets to perform their work and good vibes all night round.

Japanese Ink Wash Workshop

Japanese Ink Wash with artist Cindy Chen. Paint classic natural forms such as bamboo, grass and rock, traditionally found in Sumi-E (Japanese Ink Wash painting).  Using simple brush strokes, respond to still life subjects or experiment with abstract forms.  Try your hand at Cindy’s ‘torn paper’ stencilling technique, developed as part of her own art practice.
