birth in 2003 Sydney based community radio station FBi has been
supporting emerging music, arts and culture more than any other source
in this city. Playing many demos and unsigned bands, in its short life
FBi has emerged as a regular outlet for unsigned artists and under
recognised genres. They’ve uncovered your new favourite band, countless
next big things and the beat that keeps you running, 24-7. To celebrate
the last four years, you’ll find the pick of these artists right here
on your very own party in a box.

the Beat: The Vinyl Edition brings together four
tracks never before released in Australia, including the
Presets remixing Howling Bells,
teenagersintokyo sliced up by Knife
Machine djs, plus Teenager
taking on Pip Branson Corporation and a
remix of Red Riders.

listeners tuning in each month shows Sydney knows where to go to find
new music. With this release FBi makes it easier, grinding 168 hours of
radio weekly into two discs of blog-destroying, hypemachine-negating
goodness. This is a compendium and companion to your
cross-your-heart-hope-to-die favourite radio station. Dance on the

After ten years of hit-and-run broadcasts, FBi
94.5FM took to the air permanently on 29th August 2003,
playing 50% Australian music, with half of that coming from
our home town of Sydney. It's two
years later and since then we’ve put to air some
amazing music that we shook our arse, sung out loud and got stupidly
drunk to – and now we’ve rammed some of our favourites onto
this neat little compact disc, titled KILL YOUR
IDOLS.
All these artists came to us in different ways. Some via our
monthly Music Open Day where we throw open the doors and talk
to anyone who has a demo to slip our way. Many simply dropped through
our letter box with a homespun sleeve on a CD-R. A bunch of the tracks
on here are still demos and, if all goes according to plan, they’ll
soon be getting the wider attention they deserve. Much like some of the
other bands that have moved from bottom-of-the-bill to ass-kicking
headliners in a damn short space of time.
On this compilation, we’ve fused together a diverse collection
of rock, indie and electro, call it what you want – we just
reckon they’re hot. This may be the first time you’ve heard
some of these bands or they may be a regular fixture on your stereo.
The point is, they’re our favourites we want to share them with you.

would like to thank all the artists and labels represented on this CD
who have generously donated their music. All monies raised from the
sale of this CD go directly to FBi 94.5FM, Sydney's independent radio
station, established to promote local and national music and culture.
